St. Matthew Home and School Volunteer Opportunities

St. Matthew School relies on the support of volunteers to facilitate
many school activities, events, and projects. This is an excellent
opportunity for moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and others to become
acquainted with those who are working for the benefit of the school.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Supporting Teachers and Staff

Cafeteria:
Eight volunteers are needed each day to help cafeteria staff prepare
and serve lunch, and help with clean up. Volunteers are scheduled to
work once per month with a choice of two shifts 9-11 or 11:15-1:15.
Any time you can give is welcome and appreciated.

Media Center (Library):
Classes are scheduled to go to the library once per week. Volunteers
are needed during the school day to shelve and check out books,
assist the students as they come into the library, and/or help with
book fairs.

Room Parents:
Room parents are responsible for class parties and other activities
involving a specific class at the request of the classroom teacher.
Room parent signups are held in May for the following year with an
orientation meeting held in September.

Homework Assistance To Target Success (HATTS):
Mrs. Spellacy has started an after school program for students in
grades 3-5 seeking help with homework, long range projects, and
studying for tests. Adult support/ volunteers are needed to
supervise and assist the participants on Monday and Wednesday
afternoons from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. This is a teacher led activity so
you don’t have to be smarter than a 5th grader! Any level of time
commitment would be appreciated.
