What type of grading scale is used in the art classroom?

Students in grades k-8 will be evaluated using a +,check, I,or N.
They will receive a rubric (checklist with criteria)for each project. The 
rubric will describe what it is being evaluated for the project.

What does my child need for art class?

The items needed for art class are specified on the supply list. If your 
child should lose or use the supplies in their art box or art can they need 
to be replaced. It is the students responsibility to maintain supplies.

Where can I buy students art supplies?

The school supply sale. You may also buy art supplies at Dick Blick, 
Michaels, Staples, United Art and Crafts, Holcomb, and Star Beacon.

How is art assessed?

Students in all grades attach a rubric for art projects. 
These rubrics are given to students on the first day a project is assigned. 
We read over and explain each criteria, so that students are aware of the 
requirements of the project. Students will assess themselves first and at 
the completion of the project it is assessed by the teacher.

My child really enjoys art, what type of programs are available in Columbus?

The Art Garden in Gahanna is a great place! Lots of classes to choose from if you want to go on a regular basis or attend a drop-in class!
On Saturday mornings CCAD offers classes for students interested in art. 
There are also a variety of programs offered to students in the elementary 
grades at both The Wexner Center for the Arts and The Columbus Museum of 
Art. The Dublin Arts Center also has workshops available.
