About The Teacher

The 2015-2016 school year marks my twentieth year at St. Matthew. I enjoy
teaching Third Grade because it is a year of transition, in which I
encourage the students to be more responsible for their assignments.

Some background on me...

My four children all graduated from St. Matthew.

Frank is a physician and a lieutenant in the US Navy. He and his young
family recently moved to Japan for a three year assignment at the Yokosuka
Naval Base, about two hours from Tokyo.

My second, Fr. Michael Hartge was ordained a priest for the Diocese of
Columbus on May 30th, and his first assignment is Parochial Vicar of a
four parish consortium based in Chillicothe.

Margaret is a Theology teacher at Bishop Hartley.

Joseph, my youngest, just graduated from Ohio university and is pursuing
graduate work in Economics at the Ohio State University.

My husband Frank is a native of the Detroit area and is a proud graduate
of the University of Michigan. We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary
this summer!
Raised in Milwaukee, I attended Catholic grade school and high school, and
graduated from Mount Mary College. I taught fourth grade at Mother of Good
Counsel Catholic School in Milwaukee for eight years. I am active in
parish ministries and other apostolates: Extraordinary Minister of Holy
Communion, Hand Bell Choir, Bereavement Committee, Perpetual Adoration,
and Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

During the 2013-14 school year, along with three other St. Matthew
teachers, I was recognized as a Master Teacher by the Diocese of Columbus
Office of Catholic Schools.

Mission For The Class

My mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, loving, fun-filled,
and Catholic environment for your child. I want every child to gain
a deep love for learning. My goal is for every child to be working to
his or her potential academically, socially, and spiritually.
